"That was one of the best defensive efforts I've seen in a long, long time. It's nice to know there are some good players coming back. Can't wait to see what Byron does when he can start every game."

WITH ROD GILMORE

The old Wrecking Crew known as the Texas A&M defense came back today and really dominated TCU.

Horned Frogs QB Casey Printers has a tendency to look only to his leading receiver Adrian Madise and really struggled. The Aggies defense doubled Madise and were able to get the pickoffs, including three by freshman DB Byron Jones -- fantastic job by Jones in his first start as a defensive back.

Plagued by injuries, the Aggies started four freshman and played just one senior on offense. It was good to see this young offense show a little maturity. Because the defense set them up with turnovers, they had some short drives, but you could see a consistent running game that got the job done.

This Texas A&M team looks pretty good going into next season. They'll lose four starters on defense but just one on offense. And with QB Mark Farris returning and bowl practices, R.C. Slocum has a pretty good nucleus heading into next season. The Aggies will have a tough schedule but at least they've got some depth. Because of all the injuries this year, Slocum had to give players experience. The future looks pretty good for them.

IT WAS OVER WHEN
Texas A&M running back Joe Weber scored his second TD with just over a minute left in the third quarter to give the Aggies a comfortable lead.
GAME BALL GOES TO
Freshman Byron Jones intercepted three passes in his first start as the Aggie defense rolled over TCU snapping their four-game bowl losing streak.
