Johnson, Bailey fail to meet credit requirements

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia receiver Michael Johnson and cornerback Kenny Bailey were ruled academically ineligible by the
Southeastern Conference for the Capital One Bowl.

Coach Mark Richt made the announcement Friday, but he also said
the players are in good academic standing at the school.

The players failed to accumulate enough credits in the fall
semester to meet SEC requirements, according to athletics spokesman
Claude Felton.

The Bulldogs (10-3) play Purdue (9-3) on Jan. 1.

Johnson had 27 catches for 361 yards and two touchdowns this
season as primarily a reserve. Bailey, also a reserve, broke up
three passes but didn't have an interception in 13 games.

Richt also said receiver Mario Raley won't play against the
Boilermakers because of a shoulder injury.
