ORLANDO, Fla. -- Miami running back Graig Cooper injured his right knee in the second quarter of the 14th-ranked Hurricanes' 20-14 loss to No. 24 Wisconsin in the Champs Sports Bowl on Tuesday night.
Cooper returned a kickoff 27 yards before he lost his footing and tumbled to the ground. He clutched his right knee and was examined by trainers for about 5 minutes.
Cooper was barely able to stand as he was helped off the field by teammates Javarris James and Damien Berry. He then was helped into the locker room at halftime for preliminary evaluation, the results of which were not revealed.
Coach Randy Shannon said Cooper's status wouldn't be known until at least Wednesday. Cooper was not available to reporters after the game.
Cooper led Miami with 695 yards rushing this season. He is among a number of Miami underclassmen considering entering the NFL draft, although he had not previously indicated if he's leaning toward turning pro or returning for his senior season.
