Bryce Petty wins inaugural award

TYLER, Texas -- Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty has won the inaugural Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award that recognizes the top Division I offensive player with Texas ties.

The award was presented Friday night at a ceremony in Tyler, the hometown of former Heisman Trophy winner Campbell.

Petty accounted for 4,409 total yards and 46 touchdowns in his first season as the starter at Baylor (11-2), which was the Big 12 champion and went to its first Bowl Championship Series game. The fourth-year ...
