Jim Tressel seeks Akron presidency

AKRON, Ohio -- Former Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Jim Tressel has applied to become president at the University of Akron Zips.

The school says he's among 19 applicants.

Current President Luis Proenza is leaving his position in June. The school says it's accepting applications until it fills the job.

Tressel has worked as an administrator at Akron for two years. He took the job after being forced out at Ohio State following a scandal that led to NCAA sanctions.
