Cruz to undergo surgery for torn ACL

EL PASO, Texas -- Texas-El Paso quarterback Orlando Cruz suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Miners' victory over Rice, the team said Tuesday.

Cruz, a freshman, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He will undergo surgery next week and is out for at least six months.

He completed 28 of 58 passes for 466 yards this season. He threw for three touchdowns and had six interceptions.

Cruz is the second UTEP quarterback to be injured this season. Starter ...
