Spurrier's decision not that surprising

Steve Spurrier would be a great quick-fix for any program, but Florida is looking for a long-term solution.

Steve Spurrier obviously did a lot of soul-searching over the last two weeks, and his decision to withdraw his name from consideration for the Florida job comes down to the fact that Florida would like a coach who can give the school 10-15 years of his life. Spurrier sees himself as a quick fix, not necessarily the 12-year man he was in his first stint with the Gators, and the headaches of dealing with academics and recruiting definitely play a part in that.
