Smith says Hundley was his No. 1 target

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State on Friday hired UTEP defensive coordinator Tim Hundley to be its new secondary coach.

Hundley, 53, replaces Paul Haynes, who resigned Feb. 28 to become defensive backs coach at Ohio State.

Hundley has been a coach for 30 years. His previous experience includes work as an assistant at Washington, Colorado, UCLA and Oregon State.
