Russell Wilson steps up in Week 5
The Wisconsin QB shined against Nebraska; Jarrett Lee took a step back
Now that Week 5 of the college football season is in the books, here is my stock report from this weekend's games. As always, I'll examine players who played well during the weekend and saw their stock rise while also looking at the players who disappointed and saw their stock fall. This week, a Big Ten quarterback stepped up on a national stage, while a pair of SEC quarterbacks saw their stocks go in the wrong direction.
Wisconsin Badgers QB Russell Wilson
The Badgers' game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers was the biggest of Wilson's career, and he delivered with a huge performance. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 255 yards and a pair of touchdowns and ran for 32 yards and a score. Wilson's mobility both inside and outside the pocket is a huge addition to the Badgers' offense, and his poise and confidence clearly rubbed off on his teammates during the 48-17 drubbing of the Cornhuskers. Wide receiver Nick Toon gets an honorable mention for delivering big plays (four catches, 94 yards, a touchdown) that helped drive the offense.
