Ex-Tulane coach Vince Gibson dies

KENNER, La. -- Former Tulane football coach Vince Gibson has died. He was 78.

The mayor's office in Kenner, La., said in a news release that Gibson passed away at his home on Tuesday.

Gibson, who also coached at Kansas State and Louisville, had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as "Lou Gehrig's disease," and was fighting it for the past year.
