Ball St. bans linebacker after arrest

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State linebacker Jonathan Newsome has been suspended for the first two games of the season for violating team rules.

Coach Pete Lembo announced the suspension Thursday. The Muncie Star Press reported that Newsome was arrested Monday after a bag containing marijuana was allegedly found in his wallet. The newspaper says he is facing a preliminary charge of possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
