2. Take A Bow

Todd Blackledge's last-second TD gives Penn State title

Oct. 25, 1982: Penn State won the '82 national championship, but it wouldn't have happened without the hands of unsung tight end Kirk Bowman. Trailing Nebraska 24-21, Bowman dug out a low throw from Nittany Lions quarterback Todd Blackledge in the back of the end zone for the winning touchdown with four seconds remaining. Blackledge had engineered a 10-play, 65-yard drive in the waning minutes, capped by that play. Nebraska, which would not lose again until the 1984 Orange Bowl, would have had a strong case for the national title if not for that play.
