Carl Carr grabs fumble versus archrival

Nov. 24, 1984: Trailing 3-0 in the second quarter with rival Duke on North Carolina's three-yard line, Carl Carr recovered a fumble in midair and ran it back 96 yards for a touchdown, giving North Carolina a 7-3 lead. Steve Slayden had thrown a short pass to Tracy Smith, but Barry James delivered a hit that popped the ball loose. Carr grabbed it and helped the Tar Heels to a 17-15 win. The play helped UNC finish at .500 for the season.
