Lamarcus Joyner

Strong safety | Florida State

Lamarcus Joyner accomplished virtually everything he set out to do last season, earning All-ACC honors, winning his first conference title, capturing a victory in the Orange Bowl and helping Florida State finish as the top-ranked passing defense in the nation. His reward was a midround projection from the NFL draft committee, a product more of his 5-foot-8 stature than his on-field performance, where he's tallied 128 tackles and six interceptions in three seasons. So Joyner opted to return for his senior season, only with the caveat that he'd work primarily as a corner, where his small size would be viewed as less of a liability. He figures to see action at cornerback, nickel, safety and as FSU's top kick returner this season. -- David Hale
