Perry named nation's top running back

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Michigan's Chris Perry won the
Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back Thursday night.

Perry finished fifth in the nation with 132.4 yards rushing per
game and also scored 19 touchdowns. He also set a school-record for
running backs with 42 catches.

Perry, the only running back to be a finalist for the Heisman
Trophy, beat out Virginia Tech's Kevin Jones and Kansas State's
Darren Sproles for the award.

The announcement was made during the Home Depot college football
awards show.
