BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech starting linebacker Xavier
Adibi will miss the rest of the season after having surgery to
reattach a tendon in his right biceps muscle to the humerus bone,
the school said Tuesday.
Adibi, a redshirt freshman, was injured on Saturday in the
Hokies' season-opening loss to top-ranked Southern Cal in the Black
Coaches Association Classic in Landover, Md. He had surgery on
Tuesday at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg.
Hokies trainer Mike Goforth said Adibi will have his arm in a
sling for about six weeks and then undergo six weeks of
rehabilitation. He should be ready to return by spring practice
next season, Goforth said.
The Hokies will start senior Mikal Baaqee in Adibi's spot and
give redshirt freshman Vince Hall his first start at the position against Western Michigan on Sept. 11.
