BATON ROUGE, La. -- Sophomore wide receiver Amp Hill left
the LSU football team and will transfer to another school, LSU
coach Les Miles announced on Wednesday.
Hill had missed practice both Monday and Tuesday.
Hill came to LSU as one of the nation's most highly touted high
school receivers in 2003 after a stellar prep career at First Coast
High School in Jacksonville, Fla.
The announcement of his departure did not say where he was
Last season Hill played in three games and had no receptions.
Hill redshirted as a true freshman in 2003 after suffering a
season-ending knee injury during fall camp.
The knee injury hampered him last season, but in an interview
last week with the Baton Rouge Advocate, Hill was optimistic that
the injury was behind him.
"I'm all the way back," Hill said at the time. "Now I'm ready
to go for the season."
An All-America selection out of high school, Hill was ranked as
one of the nation's best wide receiver prospects. As a senior, Hill
caught 60 passes for 765 yards and eight touchdowns.
