Wisconsin hires Kansas' Doeren as D-coordinator

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema hired Kansas co-defensive coordinator Dave Doeren on Friday to fill the same position with the Badgers.

Doeren will also coach linebackers.

Kansas was No. 3 in the nation and tops in the Big 12 in rushing defense last season. The Jayhawks were second in the Big 12 in total defense, allowing 303.3 yards per game, and beat Houston 42-13 in the Fort Worth Bowl.

Doeren, 34, joined Kansas in 2002. He served as linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator before he was promoted last year to co-defensive coordinator.
