Olajubutu named to Lott Trophy watch list

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas linebacker Sam Olajubutu was named to the preseason watch list for the 2006 Lott Trophy on Thursday.

The Lott Trophy, named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, is awarded to the nation's outstanding defensive player. It's based on personal character as well as performance.

Olajubutu, who will be a senior next season, had 118 tackles and 4½ sacks in 2005, earning second-team All-SEC honors. Earlier this month, he was named to the watch list for the Rotary Lombardi Award. He was on the watch list last year as well for that honor, which goes to the nation's top lineman. Linebackers can qualify if they line up within five yards of the ball.

The Lott Trophy is in its third year.
