Hill invited to testify before Congress

LITTLE ROCK -- Former Arkansas assistant football coach Fitz Hill has been invited to testify in Washington before a congressional committee next week about poor diversity in college-sports leadership positions.

Hill, also a former head coach at San Jose State, is now president of Arkansas Baptist College, a traditionally black school in Little Rock.

Hill is working on a book about the lack of minority head coaches in Division I football.

"I am honored to have been called to testify to Congress about this subject because I have studied it intensively for years," Hill said. "When one looks at the number of minority football coaches at the highest level of collegiate athletics, it is clear something is not right and I am excited to share my qualitative and quantitative research regarding minority collegiate coaching searches."

Hill will speak Feb. 28 before the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection.
