Stabler cleared of DUI but won't return to Bama this year

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Former Alabama and NFL quarterback Ken
Stabler will not return to the Crimson Tide broadcast booth this
season.

The 62-year-old Stabler has been on leave from his duties as the
Tide's color analyst since his arrest on a drunken-driving charge
on June 8. He was found not guilty on Wednesday by a judge in
Robertsdale.

He had been charged with DUI at least twice before.

Crimson Tide Sports Marketing general manager Jim Carabin told
The Birmingham News that Stabler's status will be evaluated after
the season.

He said the current lineup won't change this season.

Alabama athletic director Mal Moore declined to speculate on
Stabler's future last week.
