NORMAN, Okla. -- Starting defensive tackle Adrian Taylor will miss the rest of the season for Oklahoma (No. 16 BCS, No. 19 AP) after tearing the Achilles tendon in his right leg.
Taylor was carted off the field in the second quarter of the Sooners' 45-7 win against Texas Tech on Saturday, and coach Bob Stoops says he's out for the season.
Taylor had come back from a gruesome-looking left ankle dislocation suffered in the Sun Bowl in December and wasn't even sure he would play this season until the week of the Sooners' opener. Instead, he played in each of the first 10 games and reclaimed a starting role after fellow defensive tackle Casey Walker was injured in Week 4.
Stoops called Taylor "an amazing, great leader."
