College Football Power Rankings - Week 6
How did Saturday's results affect this week's ESPN Power Rankings?
Upward mobility was the theme in the top 10, as several teams rose after impressive wins during Week 6. It wasn't enough to threaten Alabama's hold on the top spot during its bye week, though Oregon managed to take one No. 1 vote from the Crimson Tide.
Florida State and Georgia went crashing out of the top 10, replaced by Ohio State and Oregon State.
Texas A&M, Louisiana Tech, Arizona State and Boise State enter this week's Top 25.

| RANK | TEAM / RECORD | TRENDING | PTS | COMMENT | |
| 1 | -- Last Week: 1 | 499 | Alabama was off Week 6 and the Crimson Tide had plenty of interesting viewing during its bye week. They're back in action Saturday at Missouri. | ||
| 2 | -- Last Week: 2 | 480 | Oregon won its ninth straight game over Washington and, as in those past meetings, it wasn't close. The Ducks have beaten the Huskies by at least 17 points during the streak, the longest in the series between the two teams, including Saturday's 52-21 win. | ||
| 3 | 3 Last Week: 6 | 452 | South Carolina and Georgia have been playing since 1894, but Saturday was the first time they met as top-10 teams. It was the Gamecocks who wrote the winning chapter in the series' history, crushing the Bulldogs in a 35-7 win. | ||
| 4 | 6 Last Week: 10 | 430 | Florida, as it has done all season, got stronger in the second half and LSU couldn't match the Gators in their 14-6 win at the Swamp. It was Florida's 10th straight win against teams ranked No. 4 in the AP Poll. | ||
| 5 | 3 Last Week: 8 | 425 | West Virginia landed the first punch, racing out to an early lead. Texas responded with a flurry of its own. But the Mountaineers hit the Horns with the final blow, securing a 48-45 win in Austin. | ||
| 6 | 1 Last Week: 7 | 399 | Kansas State hung 50-plus points on Kansas for the third straight game, sweeping aside the Jayhawks 56-16 to win in the Sunflower Showdown. The Wildcats visit Iowa State on Saturday. | ||
| 7 | 2 Last Week: 9 | 391 | It's not one that will sit among the pantheon of great Notre Dame-Miami games, but the Fighting Irish won't care. They improved to 5-0 for the first time in 10 years with a 41-3 win over the Hurricanes in Chicago. | ||
| 8 | 4 Last Week: 12 | 357 | Ohio State has no postseason to play for but you may find a Buckeye being honored in December if Braxton Miller continues at his current pace. The sophomore QB totaled 313 yards and 2 TDs in Ohio State's 63-38 win over Nebraska. | ||
| 9 | 4 Last Week: 5 | 303 | LSU's biggest offensive play against Florida -- Zach Mettenberger's 56-yard completion to Odell Beckham Jr. -- resulted in a turnover. It was another uninspiring offensive effort by the Tigers and the Gators made them pay this time. | ||
| 9 | 5 Last Week: 14 | 303 | Saturday's 19-6 win over Washington State wasn't pretty, but the Beavers won't care as they've already eclipsed last season's win total. They travel to BYU on Saturday. | ||
| 11 | 2 Last Week: 13 | 294 | After only 2:45, USC found itself down 14-0 at Utah and the Trojans were looking disorganized and out of sorts. They regained their composure and found their footing, as Matt Barkley's 303 passing yards and 3 TDs led the way to a 38-28 win. | ||
| 12 | 9 Last Week: 3 | 261 | Florida State looked like a national championship contender through five games. As in seasons past, the sixth game exposed the Seminoles as anything but. Saturday's 17-16 loss to NC State moves FSU back among a muddled pack in the ACC. | ||
| 13 | 2 Last Week: 11 | 240 | Geno Smith found his receivers but it was Andrew Buie that Texas couldn't contend with in West Virginia's 48-45 win over the Longhorns. The sophomore RB racked up 207 yards on 31 carries, with several important gains late in the fourth quarter. | ||
| 14 | 10 Last Week: 4 | 239 | South Carolina hit Georgia in the mouth on its opening drive and the Bulldogs capitulated, suffering their most lopsided defeat against the Gamecocks in 65 meetings. A bye this week will be most welcome. | ||
| 15 | 2 Last Week: 17 | 238 | Oklahoma rebounded from its loss to Kansas State with a 41-20 win over Texas Tech in Lubbock, a place the Sooners hadn't won in three tries. Landry Jones regained his rhythm with 259 yards and 2 TDs and no interceptions. | ||
| 16 | 1 Last Week: 15 | 211 | Tajh Boyd and DeAndre Hopkins have become a fearsome tandem and they helped see Clemson past Georgia Tech in a 47-31 win. Boyd passed for 397 yards and 2 TDs, both of which were caught by Hopkins, who finished with 173 yards on seven catches. | ||
| 17 | 1 Last Week: 18 | 195 | Josh Nunes passed for 365 yards and accounted for 5 TDs in Stanford's 54-48 OT win against Arizona. Only two players have accounted for that many TDs for the Cardinal in the last 10 seasons; the other was Andrew Luck in 2010. | ||
| 18 | 2 Last Week: 20 | 157 | Mississippi State continued its best start since 1999 with a 27-14 win over Kentucky. The Bulldogs return to SEC play on Saturday with a visit from Tennessee. | ||
| 19 | -- Last Week: 19 | 142 | Louisville was off Week 6. The Cardinals begin Big East play on Saturday at Pittsburgh. | ||
| 20 | 2 Last Week: 22 | 136 | Rutgers boasts the fifth-best scoring defense in the country and Saturday's 19-3 win over UConn is a testament to that. Kyle Flood joins Ohio State's Urban Meyer as first-year coaches unbeaten at their new school. | ||
| 21 | 4 Last Week: 25 | 87 | George Winn rushed for 128 yards and a pair of TDs and Munchie Legaux passed for two more in Cincinnati's 52-14 win over Miami (Ohio). The schedule opens up over the next two weeks, as Cincy takes a break from Big East play to face Fordham and Toledo. | ||
| 22 | 4 Last Week: NR | 69 | The legend of "Johnny Football" grows as Texas A&M's freshman QB helped the Aggies rally from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Ole Miss in Oxford 30-27. Manziel finished with 191 yards passing and 129 yards rushing with a pair of TDs. | ||
| 23 | 3 Last Week: NR | 55 | The nation's third-highest scoring team stayed unbeaten after Saturday's 58-31 win over UNLV. The Bulldogs host Texas A&M Saturday in a make-up date; their season-opener with the Aggies was postponed due to Hurricane Isaac. | ||
| 24 | 2 Last Week: NR | 27 | Arizona State was off Week 6. The Sun Devils, who sit in first place in the Pac-12 South, are back in action on Thursday night at Colorado. | ||
| 25 | 1 Last Week: NR | 26 | Boise State QB Joe Southwick has thrown 6 TDs and completed almost 70 percent of his passes in the Broncos' last two games. Boise hosts Fresno State on Saturday. | ||
| Others receiving votes: Ohio (19), Iowa State (17), TCU (14), Baylor (14), Michigan (12), Northwestern (3), Nevada (2), Penn State (1), Duke (1), Oklahoma State (1) | |||||
