JONESBORO, Ark. -- Michael Gordon broke off a 91-yard touchdown run and Arkansas State had four different rushers with over 100 yards in a 62-11 rout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night.
David Oku led the Red Wolves with 124 yards and two touchdowns. Sirgregory Thornton had 112 yards and two touchdowns. Fredi Knighten also scored two touchdowns and finished with 101 yards. Gordon had just four carries, but ended with 102 yards for Arkansas State, which is coming off back-back 10-win seasons. Arkansas State won its ninth consecutive game, tied for the second-longest win streak in the nation.
Julian Jones moved into a tie for tenth in touchdown receptions in the Red Wolves' record book with a 22-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which averaged close to 400 total yards in 2012. Was held to just 173.
