MT. PLEASANT, Michigan (Ticker) -- Michael Turner ran for a season-high 199 yards and a pair of second-half touchdowns as Northern Illinois (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) rallied for a 40-24 victory over Central Michigan in a Mid-American Conference matchup.
QB Josh Haldi and Northern Illinois sat on Central Michigan with a 28-point third quarter.
The Huskies trailed, 17-3, at halftime before Turner led a
comeback. He had a 47-yard touchdown run just 2:09 into the
third quarter and gave Northern Illinois the lead for good at
31-24 on a two-yard plunge with 46 seconds to go in the period.
A.J. Harris and Ryan Gilbert also had touchdown runs in the
third quarter for the Huskies, who pulled away with three field
goals from Steve Azar in the final 13 minutes.
P.J. Fleck caught six passes for 93 yards as Northern Illinois
(6-0, 1-0 MAC West) extended its winning streak over Central
Michigan to a school-record six games.
Derrick Vickers completed 17-of-31 passes for 213 yards and a
