HAMPTON, Va. (AP) -- Jerome Mathis returned a kickoff for a
touchdown and Marqua McDaniel had a punt return for a score to lead
Hampton to a 47-14 victory over Howard Saturday night.
Hampton limited Howard to 262 yards.
Mathis returned a kickoff 91 yards in the first quarter for
Hampton (2-0, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). McDaniel had an
85-yard punt return for the Pirates in the third period.
Andrew Paterini kicked field goals of 41, 40, 34 and 36 yards
for the Pirates.
Ryen Wilson scored on a 6-yard pass from Marcos Moreno in the
first quarter for Howard (0-2, 0-1).
