MICHIGAN ST 30, INDIANA 20

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (Ticker) -- Down 13 at the half, Michigan
State scored 23 unanswered points to post a 30-20 victory over
Indiana in the Big Ten Conference opener for both schools.

Dave Rayner kicked field goals of 44, 22 and 39 yards and Drew
Stanton and Jason Teague added one-yard touchdown runs in the
second half for Michigan State (2-2, 1-0 Big Ten), which rallied
from a 20-7 deficit.

Indiana (2-2, 0-1) scored 17 second-quarter points, highlighted
by a 94-yard punt return by Lance Bennett and a 12-yard TD pass
from Matt LoVecchio to Chris Rudanovic.

Stanton, who also had a two-yard TD run in the second quarter,
completed 15-of-23 passes for 172 yards and had two
interceptions. He did most of his damage on the ground, racking
up 141 yards on 12 carries.

The Hoosiers have dropped two straight after opening the season
with back-to-back wins, including a road upset of Oregon.

Indiana has not won its conference opener since 2000, when it
beat Iowa, 45-33.

Michigan State improved to 37-14-2 all time against Indiana.

The teams were playing for the Old Brass Spittoon trophy.
