Bulls get 2nd straight win, hand Pirates 2nd straight loss

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Andre Hall ran for a game-high 161 yards and added a touchdown as South Florida routed East Carolina 41-17 on Saturday night.

Quarterback Pat Julmiste threw for 233 yards and ran for another 69 to lead the Bulls, who kept their slim chances for their first bowl bid alive.

It was the second consecutive win for South Florida (4-4, 3-3) while East Carolina (2-7, 2-5) dropped its second straight.

The Bulls dominated on both sides of the ball in the first half, leading the Pirates 151-24 in rushing and putting up 254 yards in the half.

South Florida went up 24-3 on its first drive of the third quarter on an 18-yard touchdown run from Hall, who appeared to be down in the backfield before escaping through the middle.

Just as it appeared to be a rout as USF started another long drive, Hall fumbled and Jamar Flournoy returned it 36 yards for a touchdown to cut it to 24-10 at the end of the third quarter.

Julmiste started the fourth quarter with an 8-yard touchdown run, but the Pirates came back with an 18-yard pass from James Pinkney to Chris Johnson to make it 31-17.

The Bulls scored the last 10 points of the game to seal the win.
