Kent State 28, Temple 10

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Julian Edelman passed for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Kent State to its first non-conference win over a Division I-A opponent in nearly two decades, a 28-17 victory over Temple on Saturday.

Jon Drager scored twice and Najah Pruden also scored for the Golden Flashes (4-2), who won their fourth straight. Kent State's last non-conference, Division I-A win came against Akron in 1988, before the Zips joined the Mid-American Conference.

Edelman threw for 211 yards and added 78 yards rushing to deal the Owls (0-6) their 18th consecutive loss -- the longest streak in the nation. Drager added 84 yards rushing to lead the Flashes, who outgained the Owls 209-58 on the ground.

Kent State came into the game ranked eighth in the nation against the pass and held Temple to 144 yards through the air.

Temple scored on its first possession on a 31-yard touchdown run by Tim Brown to give the Owls' their first lead of the season. The last time Temple had a lead was a 7-0 advantage against Maryland on Oct. 8, 2005.

The Flashes responded quickly to tie the game with an 11-play, 68-yard drive, capped by Edelman's 8-yard TD scramble.

Temple took a 10-7 lead on a 32-yard field goal by Jake Brownell late in the first.

Edelman's touchdown pass to Pruden gave the Flashes a 14-10 lead and Drager's 3-yard run pushed the lead to 21-10 with 3:24 left in the third.

Drager scored again in the fourth and Temple capped the scoring with a 33-yard touchdown pass from Adam DiMichele to Bruce Francis with 1:37 left in the game.

The Golden Flashes lead the East Division of the Mid-American Conference and played the Owls for the first time ever. Temple will become a member of the conference in 2007.

Brown led Temple with 76 rushing yards.
