HOUSTON (AP) -- Kevin Kolb hit 20-of-30 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns and Anthony Aldridge ran for two scores in the second half as Houston rallied for a 34-17 win over Texas-El Paso on Saturday night.

Kolb also added 54 yards rushing to become just the 10th player in NCAA Division I-A history to compile more than 12,000 career yards. He has a C-USA record 12,148.

Houston (5-3, 3-1 Conference USA) ended a three-game losing streak. UTEP (4-3, 2-1) saw its three-game winning streak stopped.

Trailing 17-10 at the half, Kolb's 37-yard touchdown pass to Donnie Avery tied the game. Avery caught it between two defenders who crashed into each other at the 25 as he ran untouched into the end zone with 6:13 left in the third.

Will Gulley intercepted Jordan Palmer's pass on the next series, setting Houston up on the UTEP 25. Four plays later, Aldridge ran 14 yards for the touchdown for a 24-17 lead with 2:27 left in the third.

Aldridge ran 15 yards for his second touchdown with 2:24 left in the game. He finished with 73 yards on 11 carries.

Palmer helped stake the Miners to a seven-point halftime lead by hitting 13-of-20 passes for 149 yards. He hit only 6-of-10 for 57 yards and an interception in the second half.

Marcus Thomas had a pair of short touchdown plunges as UTEP jumped ahead 14-3 in the first quarter.

Kolb hit 11-of-16 the first half including a 13-yard touchdown to Roy Otis, the 20th different receiver to catch a touchdown from Kolb in his career.
