Florida Atlantic 17, North Texas 16

DENTON, Texas (AP) -- Charles Pierre rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown to lead Florida Atlantic to a 17-16 victory over North Texas Saturday night.

Taheem Acevedo had a career-high two interceptions for Florida Atlantic (4-7, 3-3), including the one that ended North Texas' final drive with 1:12 remaining in the game.

Evan Robertson gained 201 yards and one touchdown rushing for the Mean Green (3-8, 2-4), more than doubling his personal best of 86 yards against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 4. It was North Texas' highest individual rushing total since Jamario Thomas ran for 291 yards on Nov. 13, 2004.

The Owls led 17-10 at halftime, but Denis Hopovac kicked field goals of 22 and 27 yards to pull North Texas within one early in the fourth quarter.

On its last possession, North Texas drove to the Florida Atlantic 35 before Acevedo picked off Matt Phillips to secure the win.

Johnny Quinn, who caught a pass for the 46th consecutive game, the third-longest streak in the nation, had nine catches for 81 yards to break the North Texas school record for career receptions (David Brown, 1991-94), completing the game with 183.

With North Texas ahead 10-3 late in the second quarter, Florida Atlantic scored two touchdowns off of turnovers in the final 3:04 to take a 17-10 lead into halftime. They tied it on Kris Bartels' 39-yard interception return, his first career touchdown.

Two plays later, Robert St. Clair recovered Daniel Meager's fumble on the North Texas 14-yard-line, leading to Pierre's 1-yard touchdown run.
