LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Richmond's Tim Hightower rushed for a school-record 295 yards and four touchdowns as the Spiders rolled to a 45-14 victory over Bucknell on Saturday.
Hightower scored on runs of 37 and 36 yards in the first half and 52 and 57 yards in the second to lead Richmond (2-1), which tallied an eye-popping 612 yards of total offense.
Terrance Wilson scored on a 39-yard run early in the third quarter for Bucknell (1-3) to cut Richmond's lead to 24-14, but Hightower tore off his two longest touchdown runs of the day as the Spiders scored 21 consecutive points to put the game out of reach.
On defense, the Spiders held Bucknell to just 91 yards passing, sacked the Bison quarterbacks five times and forced one interception.
Josh Vaughan rushed for 51 yards and scored the game's final points on a 7-yard run late in the fourth. Richmond quarterback Eric Ward scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and passed for 207 yards -- most of them to Kevin Grayson, who caught six passes for 118 yards.
The Spiders averaged 9 yards per play and punted just once.
