MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Pierre Walker rushed for 149 yards on 31 carries with three touchdowns, including a 1-yard touchdown run with 3:08 to play as Eastern Michigan defeated Central Michigan 48-45 Friday night.
The Chippewas (6-5, 5-1 Mid-American Conference) were on the EMU 14-yard line in the final minute of play, but offensive lineman Jeff Maddux committed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for ripping the helmet off of an Eagle player.
CMU kicker Andrew Aguila missed a 52-yard field goal attempt wide left with 22 seconds remaining that could have forced overtime. The miss sealed the win for the Eagles (4-8, 3-4).
The Eagles had 441 yards of offense as quarterback Andy Schmitt threw for 212 yards on 25-of-34 passing and one touchdown. Schmitt also rushed for 61 yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns.

Despite the loss, Central Michigan wins the MAC West Division with a 4-1 division record because it holds the tiebreaker over Ball St.
