VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) -- Joe Marcoux booted three field goals and Matt Dicken set up the game-tying touchdown with a long run on a fake punt as Villanova topped Delaware 16-10 on Saturday.
Dicken's 44-yard run on a fake punt keyed an eight-play, 62-yard drive capped by Chris Whitney's 1-yard plunge to tie the game at 10 with 12:48 left. Marcoux kicked a pair of 36-yard field goals to go along with a 42-yarder earlier in the game and give Villanova (7-4, 5-3 Colonial Athletic Association) the win.
Delaware (8-3, 5-3) missed a field goal late in the fourth and drove to midfield on its final possession before turning the ball over on downs.
Dicken finished with 134 yards on 26 carries to led the Villanova offense. Whitney was 12-for-21 for 99 yards and was sacked four times by the Delaware defense.
Joe Flacco threw for 145 yards and a touchdown for the Blue Hens.
The two teams first met in 1895 and the series is now tied 20-20-1.
