SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) -- Blake Burton's 1-yard touchdown run with 1:48 remaining gave Texas State a 21-14 win over Angelo State on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.
The comeback overshadowed a big night for Angelo State's Josh Neiswander, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns. Neiswander was 18-of-25 passing with no interceptions.
Neiswander's second scoring pass, a 4-yard throw to Nate Bayless early in the third quarter, gave the Rams (0-1) a 14-7 lead.
Burton's scoring run capped a seven-play, 80-yard drive.
Texas State outrushed the Rams, 152-79.
