LAFAYETTE, La. -- Michael Desormeaux threw for 253 yards and ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns to lead Louisiana-Lafayette to a 44-27 win against Kent State on Saturday night.
Tyrell Fenroy added 194 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 23 carries for the Ragin' Cajuns (1-2).
Louisiana-Lafayette outgained Kent State 667-396 in the game.
Edelman's 11-yard touchdown run started the scoring, but a field goal and Fenroy's 5-yard touchdown run gave the Ragin' Cajuns a 10-7 lead at the close of the first quarter. Edelman's 42-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Bayes once again gave the Golden Flashes a short-lived lead, as Desormeaux's 5-yard rushing score and Fenroy's 69-yard touchdown scamper put Louisiana-Lafayette on top 23-14 at halftime.
A 6-yard Edelman touchdown run made it 23-21 at 11:07 in the third, but Desormeaux's 55-yard scoring pass to Ladarius Green and Fenroy's 1-yard scoring rush highlighted a span of three-straight Louisiana-Lafayette touchdowns that sealed the game early in the fourth quarter.
