NEW ORLEANS -- Andre Anderson rushed for 157 yards and a touchdown, and Tulane took its first victory of the season in its first contest against an unranked opponent, 24-10 over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

Kevin Moore threw for 272 yards and a score for Tulane (1-2) and Albert Williams added a 37-yard touchdown run.

The Green Wave led 14-0 in the opening quarter and was never threatened from there thanks to strong play by its defense, which registered four sacks and limited ULM (1-3) to 182 total yards.

Moore's scoring pass came in early in the fourth quarter, a 20-yard strike over the middle to Jeremy Williams, who had six catches for 49 yards.

Moore completed 19-of-32 passes, his longest completion going for 57 yards to Brian King, which set up Williams' TD.

King caught five passes for 95 yards. Moore was intercepted once on a long third-down heave in the first quarter.

Louisiana-Monroe failed to convert any of its first eight third-down plays and did not score until Radi Jabour's 47-yard field goal in the third quarter, which made it 17-3.

ULM trailed 24-3 before driving 74 yards in 10 plays for its only touchdown, a 4-yard run by Darrell McNeal.

Kinsmon Lancaster was 13-of-18 passing for 118 yards for ULM. He was picked off in the third quarter by Charles Harris, ending Lancaster's school-record streak of 173 passing attempts without an interception.

Frank Goodin rushed 14 times for ULM, finishing with 87 yards.

After opening its season with competitive, hard-fought losses to No. 9 Alabama and No. 15 East Carolina, Tulane appeared primed for a victory and got an ideal start against ULM when Jeremy Williams returned the opening kickoff 44 yards to midfield. Moore found tight end Cody Sparks over the middle for 37 yards to the ULM 15 on the first play from scrimmage. Then Anderson, who rushed 38 times in the game, scored three plays later.

Late in the first quarter, freshman Albert Williams turned the corner on an end-around to the right side and slipped a couple tackles for his score.

Lancaster was sacked three times in the first half, during which the Warhawks gained only 58 totals yards and were 0-for-6 on third down conversions. Logan Kelley's sack of Lancaster stalled ULM late in the second quarter, allowing Tulane to regain possession once more before halftime.

Dominique Dade's 18-yard punt return gave Tulane the ball near midfield with 1:16 to go. Moore hit Michael Batiste for 18 yards and then found Sparks for an 11-yard gain, getting his pass away with a defender clutching his leg. Anderson's 17-yard gain on a draw play set up Ross Thevenot's 24-yard field goal with 7 seconds left, giving Tulane a 17-0 lead at halftime.
