YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Rashad Jennings ran for 220 yards and Matt Bevins kicked a 24-yard field goal as time expired to lift Liberty over Youngstown State Saturday 31-28.
Jennings rushed for three short touchdowns and Zach Terrell added another as the Flames (4-0) grabbed a 28-14 lead by the start of the fourth.
But Youngstown State's Brandon Summers led an eight-play, 50-yard drive that ended with a short TD pass to Donald Jones. Minutes later, the Penguins (2-3) were back with another long drive -- seven plays, 64 yards -- with Ferlando Williams catching an 11-yard pass to even it at 28 with 1:29 left.
Liberty's Brock Smith completed four passes on the ensuing drive, including two to Mike Brown that brought the Flames deep into Youngstown State territory, setting up Bevins' kick.
Summers was 32 of 39 for 334 yards with one interception and three touchdown passes. He also rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown for the Penguins.
