Massachusetts 17, Delaware 7

AMHERST, Mass. -- Armando Cuko kicked a fourth-quarter field goal and Jeromy Miles intercepted a pass to help Massachusetts break a tie and take a 17-7 victory over Delaware in Colonial Athletic Conference action Saturday.

Cuko broke a 7-7 tie when he scored a 38-yard field goal to help UMass take a 10-7 lead. A few minutes later, Miles picked off a Robby Schoenhoft pass and returned it 52 yards to get Massachusetts in a more comfortable zone.

Delaware (2-3, 0-1 CAA) got it's only score in a long first quarter drive when Schoenhoft passed 8 yards to Robbie Agnone.

UMass took the 7-0 lead following the opening kickoff on Liam Coen's 40-yard pass to Jeremy Horne.

UMass saw a couple of chances of breaking the tie in the first half foiled. A second-quarter pass by Coen was intercepted in the end zone by Fred Andrew. And with five seconds left in the half, Armando Cuko's 45-yard field goal attempt sailed wide left.

The Minutemen compiled 301 yards in total offense in the first half, compared to 104 for Delaware. UMass wound up with 459 yards in total offense. Tony Nelson had 163 yards rushing.
