ATLANTA -- Kurvin Curry threw for 220 yards and a touchdown and Derek Williams made three field goals to lead Savannah State to a 17-14 win over Clark Atlanta on Saturday.
The Panthers (4-2) took an 11-0 lead in the second quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Cedric Johnson, who completed 9 of 26 passes for 175 yards and an interception. He also ran for 99 yards in the loss.
Curry connected with Deron Talley for a 33-yard touchdown in the second and Williams made a 32-yard field goal to tie the game at 11-11 in the third for the Tigers (3-2). Clark Atlanta went ahead by three points on a 37-yard field goal by Henry Boynton in the same quarter.
But Williams made field goals of 27 and 37 yards in the fourth to help Savannah State pull away. Curry ran for 81 yards and Deleon Hollinger caught seven passes for 132 yards.
Winston Thompson had 145 yards rushing on 24 carries for the Panthers. Antwan Bell had 90 yards receiving on four catches.
