DENTON, Texas -- Levi Brown set a Troy record for pass completions in just his second start for the Trojans, leading them to a 45-17 victory over North Texas on Saturday night.
Replacing injured starter Jamie Hampton, Brown tied the record in the first half by completing 35 of 42 passes. He finished the game 40-for-50 for 391 yards and two touchdowns.
DuJuan Harris scored twice on 1-yard runs for Troy (5-2, 4-0 Sun Belt).
Brown, a transfer from Richmond who started three games in two seasons, connected with Jerrel Jernigan for a 6-yard touchdown that put Troy ahead 22-0 in the second quarter. Browns final pass went to Mykeal Terry for 29 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The first score for UNT (0-8, 0-4) came midway through the second quarter on a 32-yard pass from Giovanni Vizza to Casey Fitzgerald. His 14 catches for 113 yards gave him 194 career receptions, breaking Johnny Quinn's Mean Green record of 187.
