INDIANAPOLIS -- Matt Kobli passed for two fourth-quarter touchdowns and Butler returned a punt and an interception for two other second-half scores as the Bulldogs came from behind to beat Morehead State 31-21 Saturday.
Butler (6-1, 4-0 Pioneer) trailed Morehead (3-5, 1-3) 21-3 at halftime but scored 28 unanswered points beginning with Jacob Fritz's returned an interception of an Evan Sawyer pass 39 yards for a touchdown early in the third period.
The Bulldogs added three more touchdowns over a span of 7:34. Tadd Dombart returned a punt 75 yards with a second remaining in the third quarter, then Kobli threw touchdown passes covering 13 yards to Dan Bohrer and 19 yards to Eddie McHale.
Kobli completed 25-of-40 passes to eight different receivers for 259 yards. Zach Watkins pulled in four passes for 75 yards to lead Butler receivers.
Morehead grabbed a 14-0 first quarter lead on touchdown runs of 6 yards by Cory Jackson and 37 yards by Nick Feldman. Feldman later collected a Sawyer pass for an 83-yard touchdown with 3:46 left before halftime to build the 21-3 lead after Butler's Jordan Quiroz kicked a 36-yard field goal.
Eleven Morehead runners rushed 44 times for a total of 194 yards. Feldman had three receptions for 140 yards.
Butler had four sacks for 42 yards lost. Grant Hunter had two of the sacks.
