OGDEN, Utah -- Tim Toone returned a punt 90 yards for a touchdown to lead Weber State to a 27-9 victory over Northern Arizona on Saturday during a heavy snowstorm that started an hour before the game.
Toone's score gave the Wildcats (6-4, 6-2 Big Sky) a 13-9 lead midway through the third quarter. Tyrell Francisco caught two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, one from Cameron Higgins and one from Mike Hoke, to put the game away.
NAU (5-5, 4-3 Big Sky) took a 9-6 lead in the third quarter on a field goal by Matt Meyers, his third of the day. Meyers' first attempt was blocked by Caldwell Taylor, but offsetting penalties gave Meyers a second chance.
Mike Snoy kicked two field goals in the first quarter to give Weber State a 6-0 lead. Meyers matched that with a pair of second-quarter field goals.
