JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- Coty Blanchard scored two of his three touchdowns in the second half and Jacksonville State defeated Georgia State 37-21 on Saturday.
With it tied at 14 at halftime, the Gamecocks (2-1) outscored the Panthers 23-7 in the second half, sparked by scoring runs of 17 and 11 yards by Blanchard.
Jacksonville State used the run throughout to control possession, gaining 246 yards on the ground, while eating up 35:55 compared to 24:05 by Georgia State. Three Gamecocks reached at least 77 yards rushing, with Calvin Middleton leading the way picking up 89 yards on 20 carries. Washaun Ealey added 83 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries and Blanchard, the quarterback, had 88 yards on 12 carries.
Bo Schlechter had 145 yards and one touchdown on 15 of 26 passing for the Panthers (1-2), who had seven penalties for 77 yards in their second straight loss.
