HARRISONBURG, Va. -- After losing its season opener at North Carolina, James Madison won its fourth straight Saturday, 31-7 over Richmond in Colonial Athletic Association action. The Dukes (4-1, 2-0) controlled the game behind the rushing of Jordan Anderson, who carried 13 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns, and a dominant defense.
Richmond, which started out 3-0, lost for the second straight week in CAA play. It's the first time since 2006 the Spiders have lost consecutive games.
Behind Anderson and freshman Juaun Latney (19 carries, 98 yards and a touchdown), the Spiders ran for 297 yards in 54 attempts. Redshirt freshman quarterback Jace Edwards, in his first start, put the Dukes ahead for good when he scrambled 10 yards for a 14-7 lead. Richmond's touchdown came after James Madison's first punt was blocked inside the 5. Spiders quarterback Aaron Corp was sacked seven times and Richmond finished with minus-12 yards rushing.
