Georgia Southern 48, Presbyterian 14

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Georgia Southern erupted for 31 points in the second quarter Saturday and coasted to a 48-14 win over Presbyterian.

Georgia Southern (7-0) had no trouble in handling the Blue Hose (2-5), who were clearly mismatched.

While this was a non-conference game for Georgia Southern, it took over undisputed first place in the Southern Conference race as Furman upset Wofford, 26-21. It was the Terriers' first conference loss. The Eagles' next two games are at Appalachian State and Wofford.

Leading 7-0 after Robert Brown's 9-yard run midway through the first quarter, the Eagles simply overwhelmed Presbyterian in the following quarter as five different players scored.

Slotback Jerick McKinnon had two touchdowns on runs of 3 and 10 yards, quarterback Jaybo Shaw scored on a 1-yard run and cornerback Nico Hickey recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Georgia Southern's Adrian Mora tied the school record for most points by a kicker with 300.
