SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) -- Quarterback Barrick Nealy rushed for
121 yards and a touchdown and Nick Session scored three times as
Texas State beat South Dakota State 42-12 Saturday night.
Texas State (3-1) rolled up 309 yards on the ground and had six
rushing touchdowns among four players. The Bobcats held South
Dakota State (2-3) to 246 total yards.
K.R. Carpenter, who had 118 yards on five receptions, opened the
scoring on a 4-yard run. Session followed with a pair of 1-yard
touchdowns in the first half as Texas State scored on its first
four possessions to build a 28-12 halftime lead.
Session, who finished with 45 yards on 10 carries, completed the
scoring with a 2-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
Cory Koenig had South Dakota State's only touchdown on a 2-yard
run, and he matched Nealy with 121 yards. However, Koenig needed 26
carries for his total compared to nine for Nealy, who averaged 13.4
yards per rush and gave Texas State a 35-12 lead on a 36-yard run
early in the fourth quarter.
Nealy also completed 10 of 15 passes for 164 yards with an
South Dakota State's Andy Kardoes was 8-of-19 passing for 122
yards with three interceptions.
