Hofstra 10, Delaware 6

NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Dennis Davis scored on a 4-yard run late in the third quarter, and Hofstra held on for a 10-6 win over Delaware on Saturday.

The Blue Hens (3-2 overall, 0-2 Atlantic 10) drove 63 yards to pick up a first down on the 4-yard line with 1:16 remaining in the game. But Hofstra (3-2, 1-1) forced Delaware quarterback Sonny Riccio into four straight incompletions.

The game was played in a steady rain, and the muddy field conditions limited both offenses.

Davis was 26-of-41 for 266 yards passing, while Devale Ellis had eight catches for 106 yards. But the Pride finished with minus-11 yards rushing on 32 attempts.

Riccio was 20-of-50 for 248 yards as Delaware was limited to 73 yards rushing. The Hens, who lost their second in a row, took their only lead when Zach Hobby kicked a 25-yard field goal for a 6-3 lead with 5:13 left in the third quarter.

Hofstra answered with a seven-play, 56-yard scoring drive, capped by Davis' touchdown run.

The only other points came when the teams traded field goals just before halftime.

Hofstra's Rob Zarrilli kicked a 48-yarder with 1:22 remaining, matching his season best, before Hobby tied the game with a 22-yarder on the last play of the half.

Delaware's Omar Cuff had his streak of six straight 100-yard rushing games stopped when he was held to 35 yards on 18 carries. He did have eight catches for 105 yards.
