Texas State 30, SE Louisiana 15

HAMMOND, La. (AP) -- Douglas Sherman rushed for a pair of first-half touchdowns to help Texas State take a 30-15 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday night.

Texas State (4-1, 1-0 Southland Conference) had possession of the ball for two-thirds of the game, giving Southeastern (1-3, 0-1) little hope of coming back.

Barrick Nealy completed 13 of 30 passes for 216 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown pass to Markee White in the third quarter to put Texas State ahead 20-6.

Trey Willie threw for 232 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Southeastern, which was playing its first conference game since 1985.

Willie hit Hutch Gonzales on a 1-yard touchdown to cap an eight-play, 75-yard drive to open the second half. Willie hit Jeff Guidugli with a 1-yard TD toss to cut Texas State's lead to 27-15 in the fourth.

Sherman rushed for 63 yards on 10 carries, scoring on second-quarter touchdowns of 20 and 6 yards to give Texas State a 13-0 halftime lead.

The Bobcats, who improved to 9-0 all-time against Southeastern, had 393 total yards.
