HAMMOND, La. (AP) -- Douglas Sherman rushed for a pair of
first-half touchdowns to help Texas State take a 30-15 victory over
Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday night.
Texas State (4-1, 1-0 Southland Conference) had possession of
the ball for two-thirds of the game, giving Southeastern (1-3, 0-1)
little hope of coming back.
Barrick Nealy completed 13 of 30 passes for 216 yards, including
a 5-yard touchdown pass to Markee White in the third quarter to put
Texas State ahead 20-6.
Trey Willie threw for 232 yards and a pair of touchdowns for
Southeastern, which was playing its first conference game since
Willie hit Hutch Gonzales on a 1-yard touchdown to cap an
eight-play, 75-yard drive to open the second half. Willie hit Jeff
Guidugli with a 1-yard TD toss to cut Texas State's lead to 27-15
in the fourth.
Sherman rushed for 63 yards on 10 carries, scoring on
second-quarter touchdowns of 20 and 6 yards to give Texas State a
13-0 halftime lead.
The Bobcats, who improved to 9-0 all-time against Southeastern,
had 393 total yards.
