SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) -- Barrick Nealy threw for 167 yards and
two touchdowns and ran for two scores in Texas State's 31-16
victory against Northwestern State on Saturday night.
Dameon Williams caught three passes for 83 yards and a touchdown
for Texas State (6-1, 2-0 Southland). Tyrone Scott had two
receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown.
Nealy was 11-of-26 and threw one interception.
Davon Vinson was 7-of-26 for 83 yards, threw one interception
and ran for a 24-yard touchdown for Northwestern (3-3, 2-1). He ran
11 times for 96 yards. Shelton Sampson ran 12 times for 68 yards
and one touchdown for Northwestern.
Nealy's 5-yard run midway through the third quarter put Texas
State ahead 28-10. Vinson's 24-yard touchdown run in the fourth
quarter closed the gap, but Stan Jones added a career-long 50-yard
field goal for Texas State in the fourth quarter.
The win was Texas State's first in five meetings with
